I started my first business at age 8, picking oranges from our tree and selling them door to door.
Though I tried (and failed) at many small ventures and side hustles (the web development agency that only had 3 clients or the harbor cruise party that made me seasick). I kept going.
Not until I was 26 did I summon the courage to start my first "real business."
I defined "real" as a situation where, if it didn't work, I'd be in some pretty serious financial trouble.
My wife and I invested everything we had into our moving business (You Move Me).
It was so much harder than we expected.
We came so close to giving up that we began to consider selling off the trucks.
Eventually, we figured it out.
Once we found the right people, established the right culture, and added a healthy dose of brand awareness, things turned around.
I've co-founded two 7-figure bootstrap ventures and joined one successful invest, advise & exit project.
At Trailblaze Partners, we've provided consulting to some of the biggest companies in Canada (& the World), such as Canfor, Mountain Equipment Co-Op, and 1-800-Got-Junk.
At You Move Me we're loved by thousands of customers all over the US and Canada.
At Elite Window Cleaning we're (now they're) in the process of changing the window cleaning industry forever.
Having seen the inner workings of some of the worlds most admired companies I know for certain that every business is tough.
But it's a little less tough with the right people.
